Safety 1^st Unveils Newly Designed Websites!

Welcome to our newly designed Safety 1^st and Foremost eNewsletter, packed with informative articles, hot new products, giveaways, and more! This month we also unveiled our newly redesigned website: www.safety1st.com. We’re proud of our fresh, new look and have provided enhanced features for you like downloadable product instructions (in case they mysteriously disappear), enlargeable product images (so you can get a closer look at the product without having to leave the comfort of your home), the option to shop by product category, age, room, fashion collection, or just check out what’s new. We also have a scrolling daily news ticker to highlight events we’ll be attending, promotions, or giveaways. One of the best parts is that for many of our products, you can now link directly to our online retailers for instant purchases, which is great for those days when you can’t get to the store!

“Share Your 1st” Bulletin Board

The “Share Your 1st” Bulletin Board is a place where you can submit photos of your child’s firsts. The photos and captions are then displayed on a virtual bulletin board for everyone to see!

Childproofing Video

Childproofing products are the foundation of the Safety 1^st brand. That’s why we created a childproofing video (available in English and Spanish) for new and expectant parents. This 9-minute video walks you through an average home room-by-room to point out potential hazards and how our childproofing products can help prevent accidental household injuries.

Childproof Your Home Checklist

The Childproof Your Home Checklist helps you determine what types of childproofing products you need for your home. Simply choose the rooms you wish to childproof, enter the room’s size, and we provide a checklist of childproofing products you can take to the stores to buy, or purchase online instantly from one of our retailers.

Car Seat Selector

Now shopping for a car seat is easier with our Car Seat Selector (available on all four websites). Simply enter your child’s age, height, and weight, and we’ll populate a list of car seats that are suitable for your child.

Shining Star Wall

Already a fixture in both of our corporate offices, the “Shining Star Wall” virtually displays photos and letters from people whose lives have been impacted by one of our products. Take a moment to view the reason why we’re all so proud to work at Safety 1^st.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Safety 1^st would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to learn more about breast cancer and methods you can take to help prevent the spread of breast cancer. Breast cancer is a disease in which cancer cells develop within breast tissue. It occurs in both men and women, although male breast cancer is rare. This year, an estimated 178,480 new cases of breast cancer in women alone are anticipated. Of this number, an estimated 40,460 women will die from the disease (Source: National Cancer Institute figures). Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women, aside from skin cancer. One out of every seven women will develop breast cancer at some time during her lifetime (Source: komen.org).

Research has shown that early detection is instrumental in the fight against breast cancer. Many women do not pay much attention to breast health until they begin nursing their children. Throughout puberty, pregnancy and menopause, physical and internal changes take place and all women should be aware of these changes. Be proactive and perform self exams regularly. Encourage your grandmother, mother, sister, daughter, wife – and any other woman in your life to practice self exams and be sure to have an annual physical with your primary care doctor, or OB/GYN. If you or someone you know is 40 years old or older, also encourage her to get a mammogram. We are all affected by many women in our lives and it is our job to educate them as well as ourselves. It’s sad to say, but no one’s life ends up being untouched by this disease, so take action today!

Spotlight on Eleanor!

This month we chatted with Safety 1^st Director of International Sales, James Adamson, about what it’s like raising his first child, Eleanor, who was just born on August 14th. Weighing in at 9.1 lbs, baby Eleanor has proven that she excels at sleeping! She sleeps, on average, at least six hours per night. We know what you’re thinking and yes, we’re jealous too! She even slept for nine hours one night last week! So far the biggest adjustment to James’ lifestyle is eating dinner whenever he can fit it in, instead of having a set dinnertime. He and his wife Sarah have to take turns in shifts or eat after Eleanor’s gone to bed. Although she’s too young for toys, Eleanor loves to be toted around by her dad in an infant carrier facing out so she can see what’s going on around her. So far she hasn’t noticed or paid much attention to their dog, but we’re guessing as she grows, she’ll make it her best friend. We wish James and Sarah much luck as they start this new adventure with Eleanor in their life!
