To get yourself centered for the long haul until New Year’s Day, give your space a good cleaning. While cleaning may sound like a chore, a clean space can help keep your mind clear and your stress levels down. Rather than doing a sixty second sweep, put aside a certain amount of time to give each room of your house a thorough cleaning. Throw away or stow anything that makes unnecessary clutter. It will also give you less to do in the case of a family visit. Try not to put out decorations or ceremonial objects that kids can easily pull down or knock over. Beware of glass and make sure that candles are out of reach; make sure matches are stored away too. For a fun activity, you can help your kids make home-made decorations out of dried pasta, cereal, popcorn, and other craft supplies. This keeps your kids busy while you prepare other things. Still worried about presents? Have a friend or relative babysit while you go shopping and avoid the night-before-Christmas rush. Try local shops or order online with expedited delivery. Breathe deeply and remember that holiday time is about family and celebration, not stress. TopTop 10 Family Friendly Films

We asked if the family had any plans for the holidays, but John let us know that the mid-January due date had them switching things around this year so that they could stay close to home. “We celebrated Christmas at Thanksgiving with my family and don’t plan on doing much traveling until after the baby. Anything more than an hour away is too far.” John and Andrea will have an easy time keeping busy throughout the holiday season while prepping for their newborn’s arrival. “So far, we only have the Safety 1st Close View Monitoring System set-up on the crib. We have a lot of work to do in the next couple of weeks.” As he is a Product Manager in our car seat division, we were curious about which particular model John was leaning towards. “I’m a fan of the Eddie Bauer Endeavor Travel System, but my wife likes the Maxi-Cosi strollers. I’m sure we’ll be testing many new products once he’s born!” We wish John, his family and all of our readers a happy and safe holiday season; and we hope that this next year brings many wonderful new beginnings into everyone’s world! Amidst the hustle and bustle of mall shoppers, family visits, and nightly celebrations, it’s easy to forget what the holiday season is really about: giving. This month, many different faiths and traditions share in festivity with loved ones. However, there’s always something you can do to help another, regardless of your economic or personal status. You can donate money or food, volunteer your time at a local shelter, or read holiday books to residents of an elderly home. Even offering to help a friend in need by picking up groceries, babysitting a child, or helping them organize is equally generous. Not all others are as fortunate as you are, so be sure to smile, share, and get in the holiday spirit--no matter what holidays you celebrate!
The holidays are just around the corner so don’t forget to send a Safety 1st Holiday Photo e-Card to your friends and family! You can upload a photo of your little one and share it with everyone! On behalf of Safety 1st, we wish you all a safe holiday.
December is well under way and it’s holiday crunch time. The holidays involve food preparation, decoration, cleaning, and keeping your kids occupied through it all. This also means a load of stress and anxiety you could do without.
So you’d like to sit down and relax with a movie that doesn’t just flash colorful blocks and kaleidoscopes, but it’s hard to choose a movie that’s appropriate for the whole family. You may not want to turn on the newest thriller, but there are many movies that are appropriate for your little ones and entertaining for you. Good family films often have cute characters, a simple storyline, and clever lines for parents to pick up on. Musicals are classic for family entertainment and usually have catchy tunes and smiling characters. Many animated films are made for children, but almost always have jokes only parents can pick up on. Whether you’re into farm animals, love stories, or classical music – we’ve created a list of our top 10 family friendly films, in no particular order. You can even head to the library and check them out as a holiday money saving trick!
This month we spoke with Safety 1st Project Manager, John Krammes. John and his wife Andrea are expecting their first child, a boy, in January. They are looking forward to welcoming a little one into their family. “I’m just excited about being a father. My wife and I talked about becoming parents for quite some time and now it’s finally turning into reality.”
