Dorel Juvenile Group is looking to fill the position of Fashion Designer at our Design and Development Center in Foxboro, MA.
Responsible to deliver the fashion needs of the DJG juvenile line across all brands and potential brand opportunities, as well as the complete soft goods package from design to production. Research POS data, competition, market, trends, history and create fashions to meet the needs of each key account. Provide Sales and Licensing with presentation tools that communicate the vision and strategy of the fashion designed. Search for new fabrics by working with existing vendors, potential vendors, attending tradeshows, concept shopping, trends in our categories and how they apply to DJG in order to differentiate from competition. Initiate fabric development by setting the standards for production. Work with fashion specification specialist to complete fashion specs for samples and final production. Design construction of soft goods combination that will elevate the aesthetics of the product and collection. Work with fashion graphic designers to develop new production ready art for looks that are appropriate for new opportunities.
Bachelors degree along with 3+ years experience in merchandising role. Must be able to balance the creative needs within the business parameters of each category. Must be organized and have a strong attention to detail. Needs to be comfortable making presentations to support key accounts with technical information to expedite decisions. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs as well as Illustrator. Working knowledge of textile design and production processes required. Must be proactive, self-motivated and a positive team player! Must be willing to travel both domestic and internationally as required.
