Dorel Juvenile Group Applauds Anthony Meiring for Commitment to Child Passenger Safety Certification Program
Dorel Juvenile Group USA, an operating subsidiary of Dorel Industries, Inc. (TSX: DII.B, DII.A), recognizes Anthony Meiring for spearheading certification of 15 of its Canton employees by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Safe Kids Worldwide as Child Passenger Safety (CPS) technicians, increasing the number of certified technicians on the company’s staff to 60. Meiring, Dorel Juvenile Group’s Product Marketing Manager, Car Seats, lives in Mansfield, Mass.More than 73% of car seats in the United States are installed improperly, according to Get On Board With Child Safety!, a campaign established by Dorel Juvenile Group and the nation’s children’s hospitals. Determined to educate and raise awareness within the company about consumers’ real-life use of car seats, Meiring set out to bring CPS training to additional Dorel Juvenile Group employees. During the 40-hour training course, which included hands-on exercises, skills evaluations and a written test, employees were taught how to select appropriate child passenger restraint systems and secure children in vehicle restraint systems according to child passenger safety best practice guidelines. The newly certified technicians are valuable resources for their communities.
Meiring continues his work as a CPS technician by staying active in the advocate community through NHTSA and Safe Kids Worldwide. He also regularly attends national conferences such as Lifesavers and the National Conference on Highway Safety Priorities, where he receives continuing education about adult occupant protection, child passenger safety, communications, criminal justice, impaired driving and teen traffic safety.
