Dorel Juvenile Group Launches New Booster Seat in Time for Holiday Travel
Cosco® Pronto!TM Seat Perfect for Holiday Travel
FOXBORO, MASS. (December 5, 2007) - Dorel Juvenile Group USA (DJG USA), a part of Dorel Industries Inc. (TSX: DII.B, DII.A) and a leading manufacturer and marketer of juvenile products, has launched the Cosco Pronto!TM booster seat for children 30 to 100 pounds. Terrific for travel and for grandparents, the Cosco Pronto! seat is available at KMart®, Wal-mart®, and Burlington Coat factory® stores.
"The Cosco Pronto! seat is a great value - great looking and ideal for family travel - especially throughout the holiday season," said Dave Taylor, President and CEO, DJG USA. "The Cosco Pronto! seat grows with the child, even accommodating older children who require a booster but are more inclined to use a backless booster."
A belt-positioning booster for children 30 to 100 pounds, the Cosco pronto! seat easily converts to a backless booster for children 40 to 100 pounds. It features a slide-out cup holder, comfortable armrests, adjustable height positions, and a removable, washable car seat pad. A child's age, weight, and height should be considered when choosing a car seat. Children four to eight years are ill suited for only lap belt restraints which can potentially cause life-threatening injury to young children during an accident. A booster seat, used with a lap/shoulder seat belt, reduces this risk by ensuring that the vehicle seat belt is properly positioned across the child's lap and chest. The National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions, who together with Safety 1st spearheaded the national child injury prevention initiative Get on Board with Child Safety (www.getonboardwithsafety.com), has found that belt-positioning booster seats are shown to cut the risk of injury in motor-vehicle accidents in half - compared to a collision where a child four to seven years is restrained by vehicle seat belts alone. It is recommended that children weighing 40 to 80 pounds and under 4'9'' tall should be secured in a belt-positioning booster seat.
The Cosco Pronto! booster seat retails for $29.99. To learn more about Cosco and its complete line of car seats, visit www.coscojuvenile.com.
