Dorel Juvenile Group teams up with Room to Grow to help babies born into poverty stroll safely into summer
BOSTON - Room to Grow, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of babies born into poverty, is hosting a stroller drive to help parents safely navigate their children through the streets of Boston. Foxboro based Dorel Juvenile Group USA, a division of Dorel Industries (TSX: DII.B, DII.A) and the nation's largest juvenile products manufacturer, has teamed up with Room to Grow to help supply strollers for the families in need.
"Room to Grow serves parents and babies living in Boston," says Saskia Epstein, Executive Director of Room to Grow. She adds, "However, we depend on in-kind donors from all communities surrounding the city, plus local and national businesses like Dorel Juvenile Group, to support our clients with new and nearly new clothing, baby toys, books and equipment."
Dorel Juvenile Group USA is the maker of Cosco® Juvenile, Safety 1st®, Maxi-Cosi® and Quinny® products and has joined forces with Room to Grow for the annual stroller drive. The company is dedicated to helping provide a safer world for children, and devoted to helping Room to Grow enrich the lives of babies born into poverty. "Dorel Juvenile Group, USA operates under the mission of working to keep children safe. Partnering with Room to Grow has given us the opportunity to give back to the community in which we live and work, furthering our commitment to child safety," adds Lisa Abdinoor, Vice President of Sales for Dorel Juvenile Group.
Room to Grow needs 150 strollers to help its growing population. For a donation of $75, Room to Grow will be able to provide a new stroller for one of its clients. Dorel Juvenile Group will match each financial contribution Room to Grow receives with a gift of an additional stroller. The company has also encouraged Room to Grow to select a variety of strollers to complement the diverse needs of its clients.
Parents expecting a baby are referred to Room to Grow by selected prenatal programs assisting low-income families. Upon their referral, parents visit Room to Grow once every three months for three years. At every session, they meet one-on-one with a staff social worker for about two hours to receive developmental information, customized support, and all of the necessary baby items to ensure a healthy and secure start for their child.
The stroller drive runs through Father's Day. Go to www.roomtogrow.org or call 617-859-4545 for more information and to make a donation.
