Dorel Juvenile Group USA Announces Voluntary Safety Notice for Cosco® Alpha Omega® and Eddie Bauer® 3-in-1 Car Seats
Dorel Juvenile Group USA announces a voluntary safety notice involving Cosco® Alpha Omega® and Eddie Bauer® 3-in-1 car seats.
Several car seat models were manufactured with a small square hole which goes through the plastic shell mold on the left hand side of the car seat. It is located near the curved area near the edge of the seat pad. Some consumers have reported small children putting their finger or thumb in the opening, and have not been able to pull it free on their own. There have been no serious injuries associated with this notice.
The models involved are:
- Cosco® Alpha Omega® Car Seat: 22150, 22151
- Eddie Bauer® Leather 3-in-1 Car Seat: 22770
Only those seats manufactured between October 1, 2005 and December 31, 2005, are affected. You may find the model number and date of manufacture on a sticker on the side of the car seat where it says "manufactured in."
Dorel Juvenile Group USA will mail a free repair kit along with complete instructions to all registered owners. The repair kit consists of two heavy black labels that should be placed over the hole in the car seat shell. The repair kit was designed to cover the opening and thereby prevent any possible injury to small fingers.
Those consumers who have not registered their product should contact Dorel Juvenile Group, toll free at (877-639-0659) Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST or visit one of our websites at www.djgusa.com, www.coscojuvenile.com or www.djgusa.com/eddiebauer.
Dorel Juvenile Group USA encourages parents to obtain and install the repair kit as soon as possible. In the meantime, parents are advised to remain mindful of the hole in the car seat and discourage children from placing their fingers inside.
